Installing Motor Fitment Kit - Mercury (01)

Mechanical installation guide for Motor Fitment Kit - Mercury (01).

This kit fits:

  • Mercury 9.9 HP EFI (2018–present)
  • Mercury 15 HP EFI (2018–present)
  • Mercury 20 HP EFI (2018–present)

Photos below are of a motor in that family. Layout and hardware are the same across the listed models.

Remove the engine cowling to gain access to the throttle body, linkage, and the mounting location on the block before beginning.

Step 1: Assemble and Mount the Servo Bracket

Assemble the servo and bracket assembly as shown. The Bowden cable housing seats in the brass ferrule on the bracket.

  1. Position the assembled servo bracket at the mounting location on the Mercury block.
  2. Using the bolt at location 1, affix the servo bracket assembly to the block.

Step 2: Connect the Bowden Cable to the Throttle Body

  1. Affix the end of the Bowden cable at location 1 as shown.
  2. Tie a loop knot in the braided line.
  3. Cinch the loop around the brass knob on the throttle body at location 2.

The throttle cable should only be connected on the motor / throttle-body side at this point. Do not connect the braided line to the servo yet. The cable will be secured to the servo horn during the calibration step later (see the main TCM Installation Guide).

Step 3: Modify and Reinstall the Pushrod

The stock throttle pushrod must be modified using the extended loop connector supplied in the kit.

  1. Remove the OEM connector from the pushrod.
  2. Replace it with the modified extended loop connector provided in the kit, as shown.

The assembled pushrod should look like this:

  1. Reinstall the modified pushrod assembly back into the Mercury motor.
